How to Sell Aso-Ebi & Fabric Online in Nigeria: A Complete Guide

By Emmanuel · WebCraft Nigeria

Fabric and aso-ebi selling has its own rhythm — bulk group orders, seasonal spikes around weddings and owambe season, and customers who need to see colour and texture clearly before committing. Here's how to set your online presence up properly for it.

1. Organize by type, not just by post date

Instagram forces everything into a single feed sorted by when you posted it — which means your best lace from three weeks ago is buried. Customers should be able to browse by category: lace, ankara, aso-ebi sets, brocade — whatever your actual range is.

2. Show price per yard or per set clearly

Vague pricing ("DM for price") filters out serious buyers before they even ask. Clear, upfront pricing per yard or per set builds trust and cuts down the back-and-forth.

3. Build for group/bulk orders specifically

Aso-ebi is fundamentally a group-buying category — one person coordinates for an entire event. Your catalogue should make it easy to specify quantity for group orders, and ideally show any bulk pricing clearly, since that's often the deciding factor for event coordinators comparing vendors.

4. Answer "do you have this in another colour" before they ask

If a specific lace comes in multiple colourways, show them together. This is one of the most repeated questions fabric vendors get — and one of the easiest to eliminate with good catalogue design.

5. Make WhatsApp the final step, not the first one

Let customers browse everything — colours, prices, quantities — before they ever have to message you. By the time they reach WhatsApp, they already know what they want, which makes closing the order much faster.

"The goal isn't more DMs. It's DMs from people who already know exactly what they want."

What this looks like in practice

Mercyked Collections is a real example of this — a fabric and aso-ebi business built exactly this way. You can see it on the portfolio page.
